|5OS05 Diversity and inclusion explores leadership styles in managing workplace fairness and diversity. It looks at how these styles contribute to fair practices and regulations, emphasising the positive impact of an inclusive and diverse workforce on organisational performance.
|Students will learn about the critical roles of diversity and inclusion strategies in creating overall value. The unit discusses the benefits and drawbacks of diversity, its impact on customer and employee satisfaction, and covers laws and regulations regarding gender, disability, race, and pay disparities. Students understand organizational strategies, policies for inclusion and diversity, and managers’ roles in creating positive cultures.
Who Is Suitable for This Unit?
|Ideal for those aspiring to or holding managerial positions. Suitable for anyone over 18 with an English language background, motivated to learn HR and L&D principles. CIPD Level 3 qualification holders are also well-suited due to familiarity with Level 3 concepts.
|Students must assess the value of diversity and inclusion to customers, employees, and stakeholders. This includes recognizing social and moral values like closing gender pay gaps, safety, and respect, along with business values such as increased flexibility and innovation. They should also identify challenges impeding diversity and inclusion.
|Students need to review an organization’s diversity and inclusion policies, conduct an equality impact assessment (EqIA), and develop strategies supporting diversity and inclusion. The EqIA should focus on effects on protected groups and individuals.
|Implementing Best Practices
|Students must investigate managers’ roles in developing inclusive cultures, devise practical recommendations for embracing differences, and create strategies for tracking and measuring the effects of inclusive cultures.
|No specific prerequisites for Level 5 classes. English proficiency certifications are required for non-native speakers, exempt for those from English-speaking countries. Open to anyone over 18, able to afford the course, and motivated to learn and apply HR and L&D practices relevant to management.
