At Level 3, most of the work learners submit for assessment is expected to be in written form. The target word count for this unit is around 2000–2500 words, with a flexibility of +10%. Exceeding this word count won’t automatically lead to a referral, but CMI may request revisions if necessary.
Certain elements don’t count towards the word limit, unless specified in the assessment brief. These include: introductions to job roles, organisations, or departments; indexes or content pages; headings and subheadings; diagrams, charts, and graphs; reference lists or bibliographies; and reflective statements about how the assignment impacted the learner’s work.
